President on parade

Four years ago, we found out our Tiny was a girl during a sonogram on inauguration day. Today, that girl and I watched the inaugural parade together from her uncle's office a block from the White House.

Tiny is a proud voter who wore her "I voted!" sticker until it finally fell off her jacket, and she loves the president she calls "The Rock" Obama. "That's MY president!" she says with pride. And how strange it is to think she's known just one president in her lifetime so far. She'll be nearly eight by the time someone else is president, and when I told her that the other day she was almost in tears. She wants to keep HER president and isn't so interested in the whole term limits thing. I'm not sure if she'll remember today in four years, so I took pictures as fast as my shutter would allow.

Here's to making memories, both in the moment and on film. Happy inauguration day!

  1. How amazing! I wish I had the chance to take my kids to see the last two inaugurations. Maybe I'll catch the inauguration for the first female president!

  2. Awesome pics! I stayed at home and watched from my television. We're neighbors, though! I also live in Maryland. :)

    1. It's such a small world sometimes - I have a Master's from AU too! And now I'm using it to stay at home. :)

  4. What a great view!! My now 7yo used to call the President "Rock Bama." I was a little sad when he figured out the correct pronunciations!
